The night of Friday, September 14 served as a special occasion for several women farmers with the CommonGround Program as they hosted a contingent of Iowa’s leading ladies at their ‘Ladies Night Out’ event on Julie Van Manen's farm outside of Kellogg. Women decision makers, media personalities, reporters, chefs, fellow farmers, bloggers, and mothers came out for a night out on the farm with the CommonGround volunteers. |

To help haul in this year’s harvest, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds signed today a proclamation granting a temporary 60-day weight limit exemption for trucks operating on Iowa roads, and the proclamation will be effective as of Saturday, September 15. The 2018 Harvest Weight Proclamation specifically increases the weight allowable for shipment of corn, soybeans, hay, straw, and stover, by 12.5 percent per axle (up to a maximum of 90,000 pounds) without the need for an oversize/overweight permit. |

A Win for the University of Iowa and Iowa’s Corn FarmersThe 2018 Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series™ football game proved to be another exciting match-up between the Iowa and Iowa State football teams. Iowa’s corn farmers presented the Hawkeyes with the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk trophy after they defeated the Cyclones with a 13-3 win in front of a packed crowd at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City. |

The Iowa Corn Growers Association and the Iowa Corn Promotion Board proudly partner with Learfield on behalf of both Iowa State University and the University of Iowa Athletic Departments for the title sponsorship of the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series™. 2018 marks the eighth year Iowa Corn has sponsored the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series which tracks the head-to-head match-ups between the Cyclones and Hawkeyes with each victory earning points toward the overall series championship. The first scheduled events in the in-state rivalry series are the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series soccer game which will take place on September 7 in Ames followed by the football game happening on September 8 at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City with kickoff at 4 p.m. Central. |

STATEMENT FROM PRESIDENT MARK RECKER The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced today the details of a trade mitigation package for farmers. We appreciate President Trump and his administration hearing farmers concerns and understanding the dire situation that many of us now face due to tariffs and trade uncertainty. The aid package will provide some short-term relief, but as Secretary Perdue has stated himself, it will not make farmers whole. |
