More than 80 Iowa Corn Growers Association (ICGA) members will descend upon the State Capitol for the second “Day on the Hill” lobbying event this year. As a long-standing, well-respected agricultural organization, the Iowa Corn Growers Association serves as a collective voice for Iowa’s corn farmers on agricultural issues at the state and federal level. Grassroots members from across the state are the backbone of our organization and the driving force behind our policy development and implementation efforts. We continue to work towards fair policy that protects the interest of our members and the Iowa corn industry. |

Today, both the Iowa House and Senate passed a one year, full coupling of Section 179 to the federal provision allowing farmers and small businesses to expense and depreciate capital expenses on their tax returns. The Iowa Corn Growers Association (ICGA) thanks the House and Senate leaders for swiftly bringing this to a vote on the floor, and also appreciates those who voted for the passage of both bills. |

On behalf of Iowa’s corn farmers, the Iowa Corn Growers Association (ICGA) would like to thank the Senate and House Ways and Means Committees for passing a one year, full coupling of Section 179 to the federal provision allowing farmers and small businesses to expense and depreciate capital expenses on their tax returns. ICGA thanks the legislators who voted for this measure in Committee. Both bills, HSB 642 and SSB 371, will move to the floor as early as next week. |

The delegation from Iowa consisted of both Iowa Corn Growers Association (ICGA) and Iowa Corn Promotion Board (ICPB) directors, farmer leaders, Premier County Achievement (PCAP) winners and the Collegiate Advisory Team (CAT). |

The world over, one adage holds true, people want to do business with individuals and organizations they know and trust. To see how markets work and to talk face-to-face with customers around the world, Iowa farmers through the Iowa Corn Promotion Board (ICPB) along with the U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF) and the U.S. Grains Council (USGC) have boots on the ground in major export markets. Building relationships amongst Iowa corn farmers and international buyers remains a key to USGC and USMEF’s work that can be directly attributed to sales of U.S. corn products. |

The Iowa Corn Growers Association (ICGA) recognizes Dave Burmahl and his wife Angie for receiving the ‘Gary Wergin Good Farm Neighbor Award’. The award was presented to the Burmahls by Iowa Deputy Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig in a ceremony with their family, friends, neighbors and community members last week on their farm in rural Jackson County. David is a long time ICGA member. |

Iowa Speedway and Iowa Corn today announced a multi-year sponsorship renewal that will keep Iowa Corn as title sponsor of the Verizon IndyCar Series Iowa Corn 300 through 2018. Iowa Corn is in its 10th year of partnership with “The Fastest Short Track on the Planet.” The renewed agreement continues the second longest entitlement sponsorship in INDYCAR racing. |
