Iowa Corn Growers Applaud Suspension of Phosphate CVDs
Yesterday, President Trump signed an executive order instituting a temporary suspension of countervailing duties applied to imported phosphate. In response to this development, Iowa farmer and Iowa Corn Growers Association (ICGA) President Mark Mueller released the following statement:
“This news is a relief for Iowa’s corn growers, who have faced continually rising costs and market uncertainty for far too long. Fertilizer prices have become a barrier to profitability, driven higher by market consolidation and supply chain challenges. Lower input costs are critical for Iowa farmers to continue feeding our nation and supporting our rural communities.
“ICGA thanks President Trump for recognizing the economic outlook facing American farmers right now and taking steps to alleviate some of that pressure. Measures like these are a positive step forward as the sunset review and the anti-trust investigations are taking place.”
