Iowa Corn Growers Association (ICGA) recognized 28 members and their families who received the 2017 Iowa Farm Environmental Leader Award during the Annual Grassroots Summit Awards Luncheon on Saturday.

Iowa Corn is proud to sponsor Iowa Corn Day at the Iowa State Fair on Friday, August 18 with events and activities happening on the Grand Concourse and throughout the fairgrounds. The Iowa Corn Growers Association (ICGA) and Iowa Corn Promotion Board (ICPB) will sponsor the Day at the Fair with many special activities on top of those fan favorites fair goers love to participate in each year. Deb Keller, a farmer from Clarion, Iowa, was elected as U.S. Grains Council (USGC) Chair on Wednesday at the organization’s 57th Annual Board of Delegates Meeting in Vancouver, Washington. Keller, who represents Iowa Corn farmers with her USGC board seat, is a second-generation farmer and the past chair of the Iowa Corn Promotion Board. She will be the first woman to serve as Chair in USGC’s 60-year history.

Iowa Corn Growers Association (ICGA) Director Bruce Rohwer, a farmer from O’Brien County, testified in front of the Senate Agriculture Committee hearing today on the importance of crop insurance and commodity title program in the 2018 Farm Bill in helping farmers survive sustained low commodity prices.

Iowa Corn Growers Association (ICGA) farmer-leaders convened in Washington, D.C. this week with other corn farmers from across the country to advocate for key agricultural issues as part of the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) Corn Congress meeting.

Yesterday’s 11th running of the Iowa Corn 300 will be remembered for many reasons. Helio Castroneves brought home his first win at the Iowa Corn 300. Also, this year’s race included many unique aspects showcasing Iowa Corn farmers and the corn-based ethanol that fuels IndyCars.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced today the proposed Renewable Volume Obligations (RVO) for the 2018 conventional biofuels requirement at 15 billion gallons under the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS). As race fans head to the Iowa Speedway for the Iowa Corn 300 this Sunday, we are pleased to see the EPA hitting the statutory target for corn ethanol.

As we celebrate our nation’s independence, let’s take time to celebrate ethanol, Iowa’s cleaner burning, homegrown fuel which creates more than 43,000 jobs here in our great state. One of the landmark events for Iowa Corn happened on June 15, 1978 when ICGA Past President Thurman Gaskill, a Corwith farmer who was then acting as ICPB’s first President, pumped the state’s first tank of ethanol in the town of Clarence.

Policy development at the Iowa Corn Growers Association is a grassroots process. Each year Iowa Corn hosts roundtable meetings in local communities across the state to gather input and feedback from growers. The meetings, which will be held on July 6, July 12 and July 13 this year, allow ICGA...
