As we celebrate our nation’s independence, let’s take time to celebrate ethanol, Iowa’s cleaner burning, homegrown fuel which creates more than 43,000 jobs here in our great state. One of the landmark events for Iowa Corn happened on June 15, 1978 when ICGA Past President Thurman Gaskill, a Corwith farmer who was then acting as ICPB’s first President, pumped the state’s first tank of ethanol in the town of Clarence.

Casey’s is now offering E85 in Pella! The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association (IRFA) and the Iowa Corn Promotion Board (ICPB) will hold an ethanol promotion at the Casey’s General Store located at 509 Main Street in Pella, Iowa on June 28 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Iowa Corn Promotion Board (ICPB) will hold elections in Crop Reporting Districts 1, 3, 6 and 9 on July 18, 2017. Iowa corn farmers elect their peers to serve on the ICPB to oversee the investment of funds generated by the Iowa corn checkoff. The Board’s primary activities include domestic and foreign market development, research into new and value-added corn uses, and education about the corn industry.

STATEMENT FROM PRESIDENT KURT HORA

The Iowa Corn Growers Association (ICGA) led an effort to distribute a multi organizational letter today thanking Senator Ernst for advocating for the Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act, a piece of bipartisan legislation currently being considered by the U.S. Senate. The act would lift the summertime restriction on E15 sales. E15 is a high-octane fuel comprised of 15 percent ethanol, 85 percent gasoline. Ernst serves on the Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee which will hold a hearing on the legislation tomorrow.

The Iowa Corn 300, one of the major IndyCar racing events of the year, will race into the Iowa Speedway on Sunday, July 9. This will be the 11th running of the Iowa Corn sponsored event to promote the power and performance of ethanol on the fastest short track on the planet!

STATEMENT FROM VICE PRESIDENT MARK RECKER

The Trump Administration has unveiled their proposed budget which calls for the elimination of funding for the Market Access Program (MAP) and the Foreign Market Development (FMD) program in the federal government’s 2018 fiscal year, starting Oct. 1, 2017. These fundamental programs support the promotion of corn in all forms in international markets. Congressional support for maintaining the level of funding for MAP and FMD programs continues to be crucial as they are the muscle of what drives our export programs.
