
Stan Nelson, At-Large
Stan Nelson has been farming for 45 years in Des Moines County where he raises corn, soybeans for seed and hay. Stan serves as an At-Large Director of the Iowa Corn Promotion Board and on the Exports and The Grain Trade Committee.
Stan previously sat on the National Corn Growers Association Action Team and is active in U.S. Grains and BioProducts Council’s Innovation and Sustainability Action Team. He has been involved in the Iowa Soybean Association, the Iowa Cattleman’s Association, as well as the Iowa Farm Bureau. His past agricultural leadership roles include being director at the Iowa Soybean Association District 9 for five years.
He is active within his community and previously served as a Deacon at his local church, school board member at the Danville Community School District for nine years and as a Danville Township Trustee.
Stan graduated from Iowa State University in 1980 with a bachelor’s degree in farm operations. During his farming career he has conducted different research projects and implemented various conservation and farming practices to find what best works for his land and productivity. He was recognized with the Iowa Farm Environmental Leadership award in 2024.
He and his wife, Martha, reside on their family’s century farm near Middletown and have five adult children and fifteen grandchildren.
