Paula Ellis, District 9

Paula Ellis is a farmer from Lee County, where for more than 30 years she has raised corn and soybeans. On their operation Paula is continually implementing conservation practices. Paula shared while we cannot mandate farmers to incorporate practices on their farms, we have to keep supporting those who do and eventually others will see the benefits and follow.

Paula is heavily involved in the industry, serving as a past committee chair for the Iowa Farm Bureau Young Farmers, chair of the State Soil Conservation and Water Quality Committee, past president of the Lee County Farm Bureau, member of the Iowa Corn Leadership Enhancement and Development Class 12 and a member of the Iowa Corn Animal Ag and the Environment Committee. She has also served as a voting delegate for Iowa Corn, Iowa Soybean, Lee County Farm Bureau and the American Farm Bureau. She also serves as an FFA Alumni, 4-H club leader, CommonGround Iowa volunteer, Lee County Fair supporter and Ag in the Classroom supporter.

Outside of agriculture, Paula is also actively engaged in her community serving on Central Lee Music Boosters, a member of Sharon Presbyterian Church and as a Master Gardener.

Paula and her husband are strong believers in promoting agriculture. Whether it’s volunteering at an event or going on a trade mission, to staying in touch with their local, state and federal representatives. Farmers need their voices to be heard and that’s what Paula strives to do. Currently Paula serves on the Iowa Corn Growers Association Director representing District 9 and serves on the Animal Agriculture and the Environment Committee.

Paula farms alongside her husband Jeff and their two boys, Josh and Parker.
