Andrew Lauver, Calhoun County

Farms: Corn, soybeans

Conservation practices used: Waterways, terraces, CRP acres, minimum tillage

Value of conservation: Since implementing conservation practices on our farm, we have noticed reduced erosion as a result of the terraces and waterways and we have seen an increase in wildlife since putting in the CRP acres.

Value of the Iowa Corn membership: Iowa Corn has given me tremendous opportunities to learn and network with other corn farmers and advocate for the ag industry.

“As a family farm, we are trying to build something that will last forever.”
Advice for other farmers: My best advice is to keep an open mind and network with other farmers in your area to learn about what conservation practices are working well for them. You may be surprised at just how much conservation practices can benefit your farm, both from economic and environmental standpoints.
