Join the Iowa Corn Team!

To support Iowan's during the COVID-19 pandemic Iowa Corn has decided to donate funds to the Food Bank of Iowa by establishing the Iowa Corn Team. Our goal is to help raise $25,000 which is extended to equal 100,000 meals and we need your help! The Iowa Corn team is made up of individuals who know how important it is to produce a reliable food source for the people of Iowa. The farmers and agriculturists that make up our team truly care about the well-being of our neighbors and hope we can help to continue to bring food security, and awareness of where our food comes from to all Iowans. Join our team by donating today!

The Food Bank of Iowa helps serve hungry Iowans across 55 counties in our state. They have 625 partner agencies that includes food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, schools and other community organizations that have a shared mission to end hunger. The Mobile and School Pantry Programs as well as a BackPack Program provide distributions to communities and schools across the state. The demand in the last two months is up 20% from the Food Bank of Iowa. In other attempts to support the Food Bank of Iowa we provided them with 5,000 shopping bags to be used to safely transport food to Iowans during this high demand time.  The bags were initially planned to be used at the Iowa State Fair, but Iowa Corn has determined that the bags should be used by Iowans in this time of need as awareness is high on where our food comes from and the farmers that grow it.

Iowa Corn Farmers Support Healthcare Professionals

From one essential worker to another, Iowa Corn farmers provided a meal as token of their appreciation to front-line healthcare professionals across the state of Iowa this week.  Iowa Corn partnered with Casey’s General Stores and Atlantic Coca-Cola Bottling Company to provide and personally deliver 1,500 Casey’s pizzas and 12-packs of Coke products to well over 100 hospitals in local Iowa communities.

“Iowa corn farmers say thank you, and we are stronger together in these difficult times,” said Iowa Corn Promotion Board (ICPB) President Roger Zylstra, a farmer from Sully, IA. “As the healthcare professionals are relentlessly keeping us and our families safe, Iowa’s corn farmers and livestock producers are working hard to continue to provide a safe, secure food system.”

To further educate Iowa’s health care professionals each pizzas box was outfitted with an informative flyer about how corn grows Iowa. It also included some fun facts about Casey’s pizza. Did you know Casey’s most sold pizza topping is pepperoni, made from a blend of corn-fed beef and pork? The program also highlighted the #StrongTogether social media campaign, created to encourage all agriculture sectors to support each other. But as the message grows, it has transformed into a movement for all of Iowa to support one another!
