Apply for I-LEAD Class 7 today!

Posted on June 4, 2014 at 8:00 AM by Iowa Corn

As I-LEAD Class 6 heads down the home stretch of their two year journey, we are accepting applications for I-LEAD Class 7. The Iowa Corn Leadership Enhancement and Development Program or I-LEAD is a two-year program that provides Iowa’s talented men and women with the tools they need to succeed as leaders and spokespeople for agriculture.

Iowa's agriculture has a history of great leadership that has been built on generations of individuals who have a passion for agriculture and have made it their cause and not just their job. The Iowa Corn Promotion Board (ICPB) and the Iowa Corn Growers Association (ICGA) recognize that the future of Iowa agriculture depends on developing new leaders.

During the two-year program I-LEAD participants will learn the value of grassroots leadership, gain skills to be an effective leader and communicator, explore personal leadership styles and how to work as a team. I-LEAD participants will also develop a working knowledge of Iowa Corn, the agriculture industry, the economy in Iowa and Iowa’s place in global trade.

I-LEAD class members come from diverse backgrounds, but they share a common commitment to the future of agriculture in Iowa. Individuals who are involved in production agriculture, the food and agriculture industry, agriculture media, education, and government, are encouraged to apply. ILEAD Class 7 will meet for nine sessions total, with most sessions meeting in Johnston for two days (typically Thursday-Friday). Three sessions are longer to accommodate activities outside of Iowa, one of the extended sessions may include an international mission.

Applications are due to the Iowa Corn office by Friday, June 27 . Here are a couple past blog posts about I-LEAD missions and activities.
