Kevin Rempp of Montezuma in Poweshiek County is chairman of the Iowa Corn Promotion Board.
He finished planting over the weekend.
“Thankfully we finished. Since Sunday we’ve received over five inches of rain,” says Rempp. “So far the crops that are up look good but we’ll see how it goes after we get more rain.”
Jim Greif of Monticello is done planting corn and soybeans.
In his area of eastern Iowa, he estimates that 99 percent of the corn and 90 percent of the soybeans are planted.
“We’re behind on spraying but we’ll try to get it done when we can,” Greif says.
