Last week, the Iowa Corn I-LEAD Class 6 learned about the legislative process at the state and national level in their third session. The group was updated about Iowa Corn’s legislative priorities for 2013 and then had the opportunity to lobby their state legislators at the state capitol. In addition the group met with the current Iowa Farm Bureau Ag Leadership Institute class and did a “Congressional Insights” group activity to learn more about being a member of Congress. Also, I-LEAD Class 6 visited the World Food Prize Hall of Laureates and learned about the work of native Iowan Dr. Norman Borlaug. Borlaug, who would have been 99 years old today and is founder of the World Food Prize. Truly an Iowa leader who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for working to end world hunger through genetically modification in grain. Today, we salute Borlaug and encourage members of the Iowa Corn I-LEAD class to become great leaders like Borlaug.
The I-LEAD Class 6 is taking their leadership experience overseas with an international mission trip to China in December 2013. To help support their efforts, click
