Wayne Humphreys farms with his son Justin, near Columbus Junction in Louisa County. On their Century Farm, they raise corn, soybeans, operate a wean-to-finish hog operation and also have a small cow herd.
Wayne says that the continuous renewal of natural systems is the magic that keeps him investing time, faith and resources into the land and his farm.
Looking at the future of farming, Wayne says that he sees several segments of the food and fuel industries separating further into vertically integrated mini-industries to achieve efficiencies and accountability.
Wayne is an Iowa Corn Promotion Board Director for Crop District #9.
