Wayne Humphreys of Columbus Junction in Louisa County should be finished with corn planting today. He says soils have been perfect for planting. He hasn’t seen any better planting conditions; however, they could use some rain. Southeast Iowa hasn't had any rain in the past seven days. Still, farmers in his area are working hard to get the corn in.
In central Iowa, Greg Eibs of Laurel in Marshall County has not started planting corn yet. He expects to start planting yet today or tomorrow. Soil conditions have been a little damp although some farmers in the area have starting planting. He had some fields sprayed today. He will lightly cultivate those fields and then start planting.
