Larry Klever of Audubon hasn’t started planting yet. He received 1.5 inches of rain earlier this week and more rain is on the way today, so he expects that he won't be planting until next week. A few farmers in his area started planting last week, but the planters will be parked until it dries out. Klever has seen some corn emerge in a field that was planted very early.
Nick Leibold of New Hampton hasn’t started planting yet, but he has a couple of neighbors who planted corn. Overall, not many acres have been planted in his area of Northeast Iowa. In addition, he is waiting on two varieties of corn hybrids to be delivered. The hybrids are coming from production acres in South America and he hopes to get started next week. He had a little over an inch of rain last week and more is expected today.
