Roger Zylstra farms with his son near Lynnville in Jasper County. On their farm they raise corn, soybeans, pasture ground and also own a hog feeding operation. The Zylstras use no-till and other conservation farming practices. Manure from their livestock is used for nutrients in growing their crops.
Roger enjoys the challenges of working outdoors, growing food and fiber. He recognizes that there will continue to be opportunities and challenges in farming.
Roger is the Secretary and Treasurer for the Iowa Corn Growers Association, where he is a director for crop reporting district 5. He also serves on the Iowa Corn Animal Ag and Environment committee. Because of his involvement in raising livestock, Roger knows how important the livestock industry is to Iowa corn growers.
