2011 Marks the 5th Annual running and is the 5th year of sponsorship for the Iowa Corn Promotion Board and the Iowa Corn Growers Association - Presenting sponsor, Pioneer has supported the race since 2008. 2011 also marks the first night race for the Iowa Corn Indy 250. It is also the first “Green Out” for the “green” fuel choice, and this race is the only Indy Race fueled by 100% corn ethanol.
· Iowa is the leader in corn and ethanol production
· 1 bushel of corn produces nearly 3 gallons of ethanol
· 1 acre of corn can produce 300 gallons of ethanol-fueling 4 cars for 1 year on a 10% blend
· Ethanol production provides nearly 50,000 Iowa jobs
· Iowa has 40 Ethanol Plants with 3.6 billion gallons at capacity
· Livestock, which also benefits from DDGS (a high protein feed) from ethanol production
· 149 E85 pumps
· In the Midwest ethanol saved consumers approximately $1.37/gallons last year
