Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is partnering with the USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) to conduct Farm Bill: ARC/PLC & Farm Financial Decisions meetings statewide in mid-November. Central Iowa will host a total of 9 meetings between November 12 and 21. The Agricultural Risk Coverage (ARC) and/or Price Loss Coverage (PLC) commodity crop programs requires an election and enrollment by crop and by farm. Producers have until March 15, 2020, to make a two-year election of either ARC-CO, PLC or the ARC Individual (ARC-IC) program. Enrollment will then be concurrent for both the 2019 and 2020 crop years. Cash rent landowners will need to provide a release for a producer to update the PLC Yield on a farm using 2013 thru 2017 crop production evidence.

“The meetings are designed to help producers, landlords and other agri-business professionals with current issues related to the election and enrollment decisions in the updated ARC/PLC programs,” says Steve Johnson, farm management specialist with ISU Extension and Outreach.

Doors will open at each meeting site about 30 minutes before the announced meeting start time. No pre-registration or registration fee is required, and the meetings are open to the public. Contact your local county Extension office in Central Iowa if you have questions or concerns.
