Iowa Corn, Iowa Learning Farms, and ISU Extension are hosting a cover crop and wetland field day at the ISU drainage research farm near Gilmore City on September 11 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. The field day will feature Doug Adams, Humboldt County farmer sharing his experiences with cover crops and reduced tillage. Matt Helmers, ISU professor, will share results from the over 25 years of research collected at the drainage site. Morgan Davis, graduate research assistant, will highlight findings from ongoing soil health research being conducted on the site. The field day will conclude at a nearby nitrate removal wetland with Bill Crumpton, ISU professor and wetland ecology expert.
The event is free, open to the whole family and includes a complimentary meal. To get to the research farm from Gilmore city, go two miles west on Highway 3, then one mile north on 320th Avenue and then one-half mile west on 510th Street. Click here for more information.
