The Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series Rivalry Begins This Week

September 6, 2016

MEDIA ADVISORY

The Iowa Corn Growers Association and the Iowa Corn Promotion Board are honored to partner with Learfield on behalf of both Iowa State University and the University of Iowa Athletic Departments for the title sponsorship of the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series™. 2016 marks the sixth year of the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series which tracks the head-to-head match-ups between the Cyclones and Hawkeyes with each victory earning points toward the overall series championship.

This is of course the biggest in-state rivalry of its kind for our state. One of the first events in the series is the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series football game which will take place on September 10 at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City.

Iowa Corn is proud to sponsor the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series because it’s more than a game. It’s a tribute to the hard-working student athletes who give it their all in their sport and fields of study. Just like hard-working Iowa farmers who work to produce some of the best corn in the world!

Iowa Corn developed the CORN: IT’S EVERYTHING campaign to educate consumers about all the amazing things that come from corn. The Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series is a great way to promote Iowa Corn and corn farming because approximately 65 percent of Iowans tune-in and are engaged during the game. This sponsorship provides a platform for farmers to inform Iowans about the essential role that corn plays in our state’s economy, for feed, food and fuel. Corn and corn byproducts are used to make more than 4,000 products – everything from plastic cups and water bottles, to bacon and lipstick, ice cream and even beer! It all contains corn.

To expand the campaign this year, Iowa Corn will be partnering with the Iowa Nice Guy to do in stadium promotions and a video series geared towards sharing hot topics surrounding corn and corn production. Part of this online promotion includes a $4,000 grocery giveaway. For more information, go to iowacorn.org/cyhawk2016.
