Iowa’s CommonGround Women Farmers Host Ladies Night Out

The night of Friday, September 14 served as a special occasion for several women farmers with the CommonGround Program as they hosted a contingent of Iowa’s leading ladies at their ‘Ladies Night Out’ event on Julie Van Manen's farm outside of Kellogg. Women decision makers, media personalities, reporters, chefs, fellow farmers, bloggers, and mothers came out for a night out on the farm with the CommonGround volunteers.

A Win for the University of Iowa and Iowa’s Corn Farmers

The 2018 Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series™ football game proved to be another exciting match-up between the Iowa and Iowa State football teams. Iowa’s corn farmers presented the Hawkeyes with the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk trophy after they defeated the Cyclones with a 13-3 win in front of a packed crowd at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City.

The Rivalry by Any Other Name is Not the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series

The Iowa Corn Growers Association and the Iowa Corn Promotion Board proudly partner with Learfield on behalf of both Iowa State University and the University of Iowa Athletic Departments for the title sponsorship of the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series™. 2018 marks the eighth year Iowa Corn has sponsored the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series which tracks the head-to-head match-ups between the Cyclones and Hawkeyes with each victory earning points toward the overall series championship. The first scheduled events in the in-state rivalry series are the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series soccer game which will take place on September 7 in Ames followed by the football game happening on September 8 at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City with kickoff at 4 p.m. Central.

Iowa Corn Engages Cyclists with Sweetcorn Feeds at RAGBRAI

This year, Iowa Corn will be welcoming RAGBRAI cyclists with homegrown, fresh Iowa sweet corn. Signs along the route will inform riders about the difference between sweetcorn and field corn which represents 99 percent of all corn acres. There will be five stops along the 500 plus mile route offering riders sweet corn, the opportunity to talk with local farmers and tour the Iowa Corn trailer. Reminder: Farmers Encouraged to Vote in Corn Checkoff Director Elections on July 17

The Iowa Corn Promotion Board (ICPB) will hold director elections in Crop Reporting Districts 4, 5, 8, and 9 on Tuesday, July 17, 2018. Iowa corn farmers elect their peers to serve on the ICPB to oversee the investment of funds generated by the Iowa corn checkoff. Voting will take place at their local county ISU extension office for their representation on the Iowa Corn Promotion Board for a 3-year term.

James Hinchcliffe brought home his second win at the Iowa Corn 300 taking the lead with just over 40 laps remaining.
