The final version of the farm bill passed out of the US Senate Tuesday by a bipartisan vote of 87-13 and the US House passed it out on a bipartisan vote today of 369-47. Now the bill will be sent to the President to await his signature to become law. |

The night of Friday, September 14 served as a special occasion for several women farmers with the CommonGround Program as they hosted a contingent of Iowa’s leading ladies at their ‘Ladies Night Out’ event on Julie Van Manen's farm outside of Kellogg. Women decision makers, media personalities, reporters, chefs, fellow farmers, bloggers, and mothers came out for a night out on the farm with the CommonGround volunteers. |

To help haul in this year’s harvest, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds signed today a proclamation granting a temporary 60-day weight limit exemption for trucks operating on Iowa roads, and the proclamation will be effective as of Saturday, September 15. The 2018 Harvest Weight Proclamation specifically increases the weight allowable for shipment of corn, soybeans, hay, straw, and stover, by 12.5 percent per axle (up to a maximum of 90,000 pounds) without the need for an oversize/overweight permit. |
