2016 Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Football Game; A Win for Iowa and Corn Farmers

September 10, 2016

Today proved to be yet another exciting rivalry between the Iowa and Iowa State football teams at 2016 Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series™ football game. Iowa’s corn farmers presented the Iowa Hawkeyes with the trophy after they walked away with a win of 42-3 in front of a packed crowd at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City.

The Iowa Corn Growers Association (ICGA) and the Iowa Corn Promotion Board (ICPB) are honored to partner with Learfield on behalf of both Iowa State University and the University of Iowa Athletic Departments for the title sponsorship of the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series™. The series, now it’s sixth year, tracks the head-to-head match-ups between the Cyclones and Hawkeyes throughout the year with each victory earning points toward the overall series championship.

“As Iowans, we look forward to our team winning bragging rights, but as corn farmers, no matter who won the game, we know we are the biggest winners because we shared our message and passion for what we do with people across the state ,” said Iowa Corn Promotion Board  President Larry Klever, a farmer from Audubon. “The Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series is a great way to promote Iowa Corn and our industry because about 65 percent of Iowans tune in and are engaged during the game so it’s a great platform to talk about corn and farming.”

The day began with Iowa Corn Grower Association (ICGA) VIP member tailgate experience where they mingled and enjoyed a corn-fed tailgate. The new highly-interactive Iowa Corn Mobile Education trailer turned out to be a fan favorite. The 40-foot state-of-the-art mobile display brings to life Iowa Corn’s successful “CORN: IT’S EVERYTHING” campaign taking visitors on a multi-media journey showing how Iowa Corn farmers conserve their land while growing corn that’s used for food, feed, fuel and the 4,000 other products made from you guessed it, corn. Hundreds toured the display receiving an Iowa Corn t-shirt as a souvenir of their experience.

During the game, Iowa Corn partnered with the Iowa Nice Guy to do in stadium promotions sharing hot topics surrounding corn and Iowa corn farmers. This campaign also includes fun informative YouTube videos capturing the viewer’s attention then directing them to learn more about a particular topic.
