Pete Brecht

Peter Brecht is a third generation farmer, farming for 35 years in Linn County. For many years he had been a cattle and swine producer but currently grain farms both corn and soybeans with his brother. His son also farms with them on a part-time basis.

Peter currently serves as an Iowa Corn Promotion Board Director representing District #6 and Chair of the Iowa Corn Research & Business Development Committee.

He is actively involved in the Linn County Corn Growers and the Linn County Ag Expo. Brecht is a member of National Federation of Independent Businessmen, Linn County Farm Bureau, Linn County Corn Growers, Linn County Soybean Growers, Linn County Cattlemen’s Association and National Corn Growers Association. He has also been a Linn County voting delegate at the Iowa Corn Growers Association policy conference for the past two years.

He is actively involved in his community and currently serves on the finance council for St. Stephen’s Parish. He has also served on the Central City Community School Board and on the St. Stephen’s Parish Council. He also volunteers his time at the Linn County Fair.

If elected to the Iowa Corn Promotion Board, Peter would like to assist in enhancing marketing opportunities, which would assist in the expansion of export markets. He would also like to educate consumers on the care farmers take for their land to protect it for future generation.

Peter and his wife, Diane, have three children and nine grandchildren.
