Chris Sackett is currently BrownWinick’s Managing Partner, having served on the Management Committee for more than 13 years and as the Managing Partner since 2007. Chris has practiced extensively in the private equity and venture capital areas for more than ten years, representing funds, portfolio companies and target companies. Chris represents numerous and diverse clients in corporate/mergers and acquisitions and in general business and transactional matters. He also represents several investment funds in formation, compliance and investment activities.
Chris is a recognized leader in his areas of expertise, having been recognized by Chambers USA® as a leading practitioner in Iowa in corporate/mergers and acquisitions and business law and selected for inclusion in Best Lawyers® in the area of business organizations (including LLCs and Partnerships). Chris is well known in the state of Iowa in the private equity, venture and angel investor communities, and has extensive relationships in those areas as well as agriculture, including production agriculture, livestock, biofuels and value-added agricultural products.
Chris currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Association of Business and Industry, the Workforce Board for the Greater Des Moines Partnership, the Operation Downtown Board of Directors for the Downtown Community Alliance and the Board for Iowa Corn Opportunities. Chris is also a strategic advisor to the Iowa Economic Development Authority on appropriate structure and operation of angel investor tax credit programs and serves as an expert panelist for VentureNet Iowa.
Chris received his B.A., magna cum laude, from Central College in 1989 and his J.D., with distinction, from the University of Iowa in 1993.
