Partnering with Iowa Corn
The Iowa Corn Promotion Board cooperates with two types of partners during the research and commercialization processes.

For the research process, we depend on a university or laboratory to:

* Conduct the scientific experiment.
* Maintain confidentiality and seek patent protection of the new
developments.
* Provide technical review of competing technology.
* Provide technical analysis and support for industry scale-up

Once the project moves to the commercialization stage, we expect an industry partner to:

* Analyze and scale-up new technology for commercial development.
* License new technology from partners.
* Manage production and quality control of the product.
* Manage product promotion, sales and distribution.

The ICPB's role in the process is to:

* Fund research and seek research grants.
* Seek partners to implement new technology.
* Implement license and legal agreements.
* Analyze competing technology.
* Analyze opportunity for grower investment in the business.
* Promote products that are commercialized.
* Understand the product concept.
* Analyze market opportunity.
* Promote products that are commercialized.
