The Iowa Corn Promotion Board (ICPB) invests Iowa corn checkoff funds in three allied organizations to expand research, market development and education. By uniting Iowa's efforts with investments of other checkoffs and agribusinesses, these organizations can conduct more extensive programs than any one checkoff could support alone.
The National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) unites 20 state corn checkoffs and 25 state corn grower associations. Like the ICPB, the NCGA invests in research, market development and education programs to improve market opportunities for corn growers. The ICPB-NCGA alliance supports research efforts to map the genetics of corn and develop new uses, education programs, grower services and leadership development for the U.S. corn industry. For more information about the NCGA, visit its website at www.ncga.com.
The U.S. Grains Council (USGC) expands the ICPB's market development efforts into more than 60 foreign countries where the USGC builds new markets for commodity corn, value-enhanced corn and value-added corn products. Iowa funding triggers matching support from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and other government sources so that each dollar Iowa invests produces approximately $2.40 worth of market development. ICPB-USGC programs reach over 3,000 grain buyers weekly, resolve transportation and trade barrier problems to keep corn moving, and provide opportunities for Iowa growers and elevators to build direct contacts with export customers. For more information about the USGC, visit its website at www.grains.org.
The U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF) develops markets to increase U.S. meat exports in more than 50 countries. By increasing meat demand, ICPB-USMEF programs create more demand for Iowa corn and help Iowa growers with livestock operations. Funding from Iowa checkoff dollars results in matching support from USDA and other government sources. Due to this additional funding, Iowa producers realize $2 in USMEF programs for every $1 they invest. For more information about USMEF, visit its website at www.usmef.org |
